Job Summary
The Natural Gas Trader develops wholesale natural gas supplies, utility and end use markets, pipeline and LDC transportation and storage for specific targeted geographic regions; Coordinates all assets and activities within the region including accountability for bottom line profit and loss.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
•Manages intra-month marketing book balancing supplies to markets and mitigating price risk through daily incremental purchases and sales, transportation, storage, pipeline parking and lending services and financial derivative instruments as needed.
•Seeks out and identifies prospective customers and suppliers and coordinates with other company representa-tives from Wholesale and Origination to establish new business relationships.
•Develops customer driven pricing solutions using company or customer owned physical assets, NYMEX natural gas futures contracts, options and other derivative instruments designed to meet the customers' individual ob-jectives.
•Builds the infrastructure of upstream physical services including gas supplies, transportation and storage de-signed to enhance the company's effectiveness in serving a wide variety of customer needs.
•Monitors regional pricing differentials continuously. Develops and implements long-term strategies designed to position the company to take maximum advantage of favorable spreads between specific operating regions.
•Produces pro forma evaluations of proposed projects or asset acquisitions from time to time as needed to support regional business development.
•Other duties as required.
Education/Certification/Experience
•Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis in economics, marketing or finance OR a minimum of eight years of equivalent experience in physical natural gas trading and other commercial activi-ty associated with natural gas marketing.
•Requires a minimum of ten years’ experience in natural gas marketing and/or trading including a thorough knowledge of the national pipeline transportation grid and proven experience in hedging strategies utilizing NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts and other financial derivative instruments.
•May be willing to except a more entry level Natural Gas Trader for the Gulf Coast Region. A minimum of 8-10 years in Natural Gas Scheduling and / or 2-3 years in Natural Gas Trading preferred with direct knowledge of Gulf Coast Pipelines.
•Natural Gas experience in Gulf Coast Region (TX / LA) preferred.

•Able to gather fundamental market information from a variety of sources and integrate into a daily plan to meet customer, supplier and pipeline needs.
•Able to objectively analyze sales, transportation and supply alternatives and path resources to the most advan-tageous combination.
•Able to effectively and efficiently manage price exposure while maintaining reliable customer service.
•Able to think independently and implement emergency strategies from a remote location (home, traveling etc).
•Able to work self-directed, through the use of initiative and self-motivation, to achieve goals independently, or with minimal supervision.
•Able to work with close attention to detail, in a highly accurate manner, to produce complete and timely work.
•Able to remain focused in the face of distractions, prioritize work, meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks con-currently, and respond flexibly to changing work priorities.
•Able to provide a valid state driver’s license, present a good driving record and maintain it
•Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.
•Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company’s values and business practices and do both consistently.
Physical Requirements:
•Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer.
•Able to view personal computer monitor for long periods of time.
•Able to travel, at times extensively, with overnight travel required on occasion.
•Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
•Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, mobile phone, and other office equipment.
Working Conditions:
•Able to work in fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload and frequent, short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines including working nights or week-ends, as required.
•Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
•Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan.
