POSITION: Natural Gas Compressor Mechanic (Offshore & Onshore)
COMPENSATION: Pay based on level of experience
Summary
We are seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Natural Gas Compressor Mechanic to perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of compression systems used in natural gas operations across offshore platforms and onshore facilities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with reciprocating and rotary compressors, a strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in diverse and sometimes remote environments.
Key Responsibilities
•Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of gas compression equipment on offshore platforms and onshore processing plants.
•Service and overhaul compressor packages, including engines, coolers, frames, pistons, and valves.
•Conduct daily inspections and monitor operating conditions for early detection of issues.
•Utilize diagnostic tools to evaluate equipment performance and identify faults.
•Read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics and service manuals.
•Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and complete required compliance reports.
•Adhere to all safety and environmental policies, particularly in offshore environments.
•Assist with equipment installation and commissioning for new compressor units.
•Respond to emergency breakdowns on a rotational or call-out basis.
•Coordinate with offshore and onshore teams to ensure continuous and efficient operations
Qualifications
•High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in mechanical or petroleum maintenance preferred.
•3–5+ years of experience working with natural gas compressors in both offshore and onshore settings.
•Proficient in the maintenance of Ariel, CAT, Waukesha, or comparable compression equipment.
•Familiarity with offshore safety protocols (e.g., BOSIET, HUET, TWIC, H2S Training).
•Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
•Ability to travel offshore via helicopter or vessel and work 12-hour shifts on rotational schedules.
Physical Requirements
•Able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in harsh weather conditions.
•Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; climb stairs and ladders regularly.
•Willingness to work offshore rotations (e.g., 14/14 or 21/21) and extended hours as needed.
•Experience with natural gas compression equipment
•Strong mechanical skills
•Ability to work flexible hours and be on call
