MWD Technician

📍 Midland, TX | On-site – R&M Service Facility

Total Directional Services is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MWD Technician to join our team at our Midland Shop. This hands-on role is essential to the performance, reliability, and quality of our Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tools and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform repair, maintenance, servicing, and refurbishing of MWD tools and equipment within our R&M (Repair & Maintenance) facility.

• Support operational readiness by preparing, loading, and inspecting tools for outbound jobs.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues on MWD systems.

• Clean, test, and verify functionality of tools to meet safety and quality standards.

• Operate shop machinery and equipment as needed to support daily operations.

• Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with all operational procedures and safety protocols.

• Collaborate with other shop and field personnel to ensure tools are maintained to the highest standards.

Qualifications:

• Oil & Gas industry experience with strong knowledge of drilling operations and MWD systems.

• Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., electronics, engineering technology, industrial maintenance).

• Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience or background.

• Strong troubleshooting abilities and analytical skills for diagnosing technical issues.

• Proficient in using computers and diagnostic software.

• Excellent verbal communication skills and team-oriented mindset.

• Ability to lift and move equipment and operate shop machinery as required.

• Must reside within commuting distance of our Midland shop.

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
