Mooring intern

Subsea 7 has summer internship positions for engineering students to join us in our Houston, TX office. This will be a 10-week program during the summer that provides a great opportunity to come and work with us; learn about what we do and what it means to work for Subsea 7. The prospective interns should apply for the specific work tasks that most suit their interests/career goals.

Under the supervision of a Project Engineer, the intern will develop an Excel spreadsheet (or Visual Basic tool) to standardize installation Databook for various Mooring project scopes using most recent project cost database. This will include pile installation (vertical & horizontal deployment), mooring line pre-lay, mooring line hook-up to host & tensioning (using either chain jack, BarLatch or in-line tensioner – ILT) and host towing and station keeping. This spreadsheet and any other documentation will be presented to relevant parties at end of program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Become familiar with typical mooring operations and past projects of the mooring group.

Become familiar with the requirements of offshore industry tenders and considerations.

Develop an Excel spreadsheet (or Visual Basic tool) to standardize installation Databook for various Mooring project scopes using most recent project cost database.

Prepare a presentation to demonstrate the usability and functions of the spreadsheet to the rest of the group.

CAPABILITY PROFILE – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS

Minimum of enrollment in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering program (Ocean or Marine are preferred) from an ABET accredited university or equivalent.

Applicants should be within 1 year of graduation upon start of internship.

Previous experience with Excel required

Previous experience with Visual Basic software would be recommended but not required.

Previous experience with the oilfield / offshore industries project/tender is preferred but not required.

Aptitude and attitude to learn and experience seabed-to-surface engineering requirements, including installation techniques, software tools, and other technical issues.

Ability to obtain, interpret and apply relevant information for formulating sound engineering solutions under the supervision of senior staff.

Ability to identify and use appropriate methods, tools and best industry practices to perform engineering under supervision of senior staff.

Ability to produce deliverables in a timely manner that are clear and accurate.

Ability to develop working relationships through effective communication.

Ability to apply logical analysis to break down problems and to develop solutions by creative thinking.

Ability to pursue goals, plan, prioritize and organize work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primary location of the position is in the Subsea 7 regional office, located in Houston, TX.

No housing or relocation assistance provided.

Working hours: 40 per week, being 9h Monday through Thursday, and 4h on Friday

May 26th, 2026 through July 31st, 2026.
