Mobile Fleet Mechanic

Compass Natural Gas Partners LP, headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, is an independent natural gas distribution company. We source natural gas, compress it at our terminals, and deliver it by truck to our customers in PA and neighboring states. We are looking for a skilled Mobile Fleet Mechanic to join the team at our compressed natural gas (CNG) facility in Montoursville, PA. Duties consist of maintaining and repairing our Fleet of vehicles, which include semi-trucks, CNG Trailers, Drop-Deck Trailers, and other Automotives. The Mobile Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing issues while aiming at maximum reliability and functionality. The candidate for this position must be well-versed in complex mechanical or electronic systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities.

Core Job Responsibilities

- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.

- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.

- Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise Company Drivers on good vehicle use.

- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks, brakes, tires) Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.

- Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance.

- Maintain equipment and tools in excellent condition.

Education and Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

- Proven experience as auto/Truck/Trailer mechanic

- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods

- Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)

- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

- Ability to work independently, practice attention to detail, and make sound decisions independently when necessary.

- Excellent problem-solving skills

- Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job, including climbing stairs and lifting up to 100 pounds

- High School Diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school, PA Inspection license or verifiable 2yr Minimum Brake Experience

- Excellent understanding of DOT requirements

- CDL Required – 3yrs Verifiable experience

- Ability to enter data via laptop or tablet

- Must be able to supply essential tooling to perform duties described

Working Conditions

- This is a mobile role, so work is primarily outdoors and on the road. It requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

- This position is based in Montoursville, PA and requires traveling to meet our fleet’s needs.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
