The Mineral Land Department at Canadian Natural is responsible for the acquisition, disposition and ongoing maintenance of the Companies subsurface assets (mineral rights). As the Mineral Land Negotiations Student, you will be working alongside our team of negotiators who are the business representatives that manage the subsurface assets for distinct geographic exploration areas at Canadian Natural.
- Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
- Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
- Term length: 4 months
- Term start: May 2026
- Safety sensitive position: No
- Learn about the various functions and roles within a Mineral Land department including Negotiations, Acquisitions & Divestitures, Lease and Contracts Administration
- Develop an understanding of the key functions on our Exploration Teams including Negotiations, Exploration (Geology and Geophysics), Exploitation (Engineering) and Production (Engineering)
- Aid Negotiators in the formulation and implementation of business strategies related to the acquisition and disposition of subsurface assets
- Obtain exposure to the competitive subsurface Landsale process including posting strategies, business analysis of historical landsale information
- Management of mineral expiries by conducting a business analysis of Canadian Natural and competitor subsurface ownership
- Currently enrolled in a business degree program or a related post-secondary education degree program (Finance, Accounting, General Business/Management disciplines preferred but not required)
- Experience with mapping systems and/or land systems is considered an asset but not necessary
