Prepares Cost Estimates, Outline Specifications, and Value Engineering for construction projects.
Investigates design, code, agency, and owner requirements to properly define the scope of work. Prepares qualification statements to clarify items that are unclear.
Ability to apply science and mathematical concepts such as geometry, trigonometry, Civil, Soils, Heating/Cooling (Thermodynamics), Electrical, Structural Engineering and understand design manuals in order to evaluate design alternatives. Requires skill to use various programs to collect, evaluate production, cost information and produce construction schedules. Microsoft Excel programming and database skills are useful for automating the work. Understanding of OnCenter on screen takeoff software is useful.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, building authorities and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
