Duties Include: Locating and reading water meters; disconnecting and reconnecting water meters for non-payment; downloading and uploading routes to and from billing software; checking for leaks, broken meters, vacancies, and misreads to ensure accurate billing and performing service calls via work orders to change out, install, repair, or replace meters; testing meters in the field and shop; troubleshooting issues with the automated metering infrastructure; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess general knowledge of methods and procedures involved in reading and repairing water meters, general operational characteristics of water meters, and geography and street locations of the County. Must have the ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment including vehicles, hand-held computers, and hand tools, understand and carry out written and oral instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public, learn the GIS system, operate meter testing equipment, utilize basic computer skills and make simple math calculations rapidly and accurately. Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must have or be able to obtain CPR, first aid, and confined space certifications.
