Job Summary
Essential Functions
- Performs basic repairs to different types of domestic meters involving soldering, disassembly, re-assembly and installing index boxes.
- Specific responsibilities include test in-coming meters; verify meter numbers and readings with entries on meter tags, cleaning/sandblasting meters, and seals meters.
- Assures customer satisfaction through timely, complete quality services.
- Performs all physical and clerical tasks required to handle meters in responsible area.
- Examines meter parts for condition and repair; reconditions or replaces parts as necessary
- Performs all duties necessary to make repairs to all types of domestic meters.
- Basic math skills including ability to calculate percentages.
- Requires ability to read meter indexes accurately, translate and record the data.
- The ability to recognize different types and sizes of meters
- Requires physical ability to move meters to and from workbenches and frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
- Hand and eye coordination and ability to stand in one place for extended periods of time.
- Requires use of hand tools, soldering iron, drill, and air tools. And the ability to operate hand pallet movers.
- Requires ability to prepare and maintain legible records.
- Ability to work independently.
- Advise Leader with suggestions regarding output and quality.
- High School Diploma required
- Demonstrated ability to read meter index accurately and recognize different types & sizes of meters
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency in meter repair and testing
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated effective team skills and ability to pay close attention to detail
- Physical ability to move meters to & from baskets/pallets and frequently lift up to 60 pounds
- Physical ability to operate hand pallet movers.
