Meter Reader-Summer Student
Job Description: Are you ready to make a difference this summer? As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for accurately recording the consumption data of utilities. This role involves physically visiting customer premises to read meters, and documenting readings observed. Attention to detail and the ability to work in all weather conditions independently is essential to be successful in this role.
Duration: Summer 2025 – May - August
Job Duties Include:
•Accept and complete all daily meter reading assignments/tasks, as deemed reasonable.
•Upload/download daily route/work assignments as required to accommodate the Utility’s schedule.
•Necessity to meet meter reading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
•Adhere to all safety related programs/procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
•Act in a professional, courteous manner at all times, while exercising common sense.
•Maintain and adhere to all required GTel’s written procedures and/or check lists to ensure efficient, accurate and timely service maintenance.
•Report field hazards/problems and add efficiencies to enhance the quality of services.
•Update and maintain all available handheld fields as required to enhance and ensure GTel’s quality and quantity of associated services.
•Comply with company procedures and policies pertaining to the use and care of all GTel’s and the Utility issued equipment and/or property.
•Communicate on a weekly basis, all data as required for timely/accurate payroll/customer invoicing.
Skills Required:
•Must be a current student or recent graduate.
•Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
•Willingness to travel and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
•Good physical fitness to handle extensive walking, around 20 kilometers a day.
•Understanding and commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
•Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
•Have a valid ‘G’ or ‘G2’ class Driver’s License.
•A clean Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Background Check.
