Position Summary
Barton Malow is actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated MEP Superintendent to lead field operations for the construction of a mission-critical data center near Philadelphia, PA. This position requires expert-level knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and a proven track record in supervising complex MEP installations on fast-paced, technically demanding projects. The MEP Superintendent will play a key role in the field, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery of all MEP scopes while maintaining the highest standards of safety and coordination. Prior data center or mission-critical experience is strongly preferred.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Manage Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of MEP subcontractors and trades on-site to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
• Monitor installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring work is performed in accordance with project documents, specifications, and codes.
• Enforce compliance with all safety policies and OSHA regulations; serve as a safety leader on-site for all MEP-related work.
• Participate in and lead MEP coordination meetings with project management, subcontractors, vendors, and design professionals.
• Review and manage field-level MEP documentation including installation drawings, RFIs, submittals, and equipment logs.
• Assist with the implementation and oversight of BIM coordination, ensuring constructability and conflict resolution in the field.
• Collaborate closely with the MEP Project Manager and general superintendent to align field execution with project milestones and schedule.
• Drive short-interval planning and look-ahead schedules specific to MEP trades.
• Ensure proper installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems, including HVAC, UPS, generators, power distribution, and critical cooling systems.
• Maintain and submit daily reports documenting manpower, progress, and field issues; contribute to weekly project reporting.
• Support QA/QC inspections, punch list management, and final system turnover processes.
Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, And Abilities
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in MEP field supervision on mission-critical/data center projects.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical power systems, plumbing, and related infrastructure in high-reliability environments.
• Strong leadership and field coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple trades and maintain momentum in a dynamic construction setting.
• Proficiency in interpreting construction documents, installation drawings, and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with BIM processes and construction technologies (e.g., Bluebeam, BIM360, Procore).
• OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams under tight schedules and high expectations.
