The core purpose of this role is to keep the die casting machines and melting furnaces running smoothly by handling and supplying molten aluminum. This is a crucial task to prevent downtime, which can be very costly in a production setting.
- Operating Furnaces: You'll be in charge of a specific melting furnace, ensuring it's running correctly.
- Alloy Management: It's critical to make sure the different types of aluminum alloys don't get mixed up. This requires great attention to detail.
- Quality Control: A key part of the job is taking samples for quality checks. This happens every shift for the melting furnaces and weekly for the dosing units.
- Maintenance: You'll be responsible for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks. This is a proactive approach where you'll perform routine checks and small repairs on the melting furnaces, preheat station, and dosing units to prevent breakdowns.
- Workplace Organization: You'll be expected to follow the 5S methodology, which is a system for keeping your workspace clean, organized, and efficient.
- Shift Handoffs: It's important to communicate with the next shift leader to ensure a smooth transition and report any equipment issues.
- Material Handling: You will be responsible for properly handling and storing incoming alloys.
This role isn't just about individual tasks; it's about working as part of a team. You'll be expected to collaborate with shift supervisors and the Die Casting Manager to schedule maintenance. You also need to keep an eye on the equipment and suggest ways to reduce downtime.
- You must always wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- You must know and follow emergency procedures, including evacuating to the designated meeting point.
- You are empowered to stop production if you see a safety hazard and must report it immediately.
- Education: High School Diploma or a technical school certificate.
