Summary:
The successful candidate will work with operations and maintenance teams to develop and manage projects to improve the safety, productivity, and efficiency of mill operations.
Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To•Evaluate equipment performance to identify potential sources of malfunction.
•Lead the establishment of objectives and preventive maintenance requirements.
•Ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
•Implement continuous improvement initiatives on how we do things and reducing cost/improving profitability. Recommend modifications to equipment to attain a more desirable level of efficiency.
•Know plant systems to ensure the ability to provide the assistance necessary to maintenance or production departments to keep these systems in good order at all reasonable times.
•Achieve the resolution of major equipment failures and deficiencies.
•Work with production and maintenance team members to evaluate equipment performance and propose improvements.
•Preparation of repair and preventive maintenance specifications.
•Project management to ensure effective and economic completion.
•Proficient in 2D (AutoCad) and 3D (Inventor or Solid Works) drafting and modeling
Additional Mechanical Responsibilities
•Work with electrical and mechanical technicians on safety and operational critical tasks and improvement projects.
•Knowledge of PLC programming and industrial automation.
•Proficient in rigging and lifting best practices and development of lift plans
•Prepare specifics on purchasing equipment for the production of steel.
•Management of contractor groups to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET).
•3+ years engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment
•Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
•3+ years experience working with production and maintenance staff to evaluate equipment performance and propose improvements
•3+ years experience to developing scope, getting quotations, and working with engineering and construction firms to take projects from conception to execution.
Preferred Qualifications
•Prior exposure to new construction or with brownfield additions is desired.
•Previous work experience assisting a mechanical or electrical project engineer with proven success, planning, leading and executing multimillion-dollar projects.
