Zachry Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III or IV to join our Engineering Design Center in Omaha, Nebraska. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of project-specific mechanical engineering and design tasks within a team experienced in the industry.
•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
•Demonstrated progressive experience in applying mechanical engineering principles.
•Competent in the application of power generation equipment and associated systems, including boilers, steam and combustion turbines, economizers, heat recovery steam generators, pumps, fans, blowers, and fuel handling, water treatment, feed water, cooling water, and compressed air systems.
•Working knowledge of relevant industry codes, including ASME B31.1/31.3, ASME Sec. VIII, API 650, NFPA 20, and NFPA 22.
•Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu (or similar PDF software) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
•Working knowledge of AFT Arrow and Fathom (or similar graphical flow simulation software) and Autodesk AutoCAD.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
•Excellent attention to detail.
•A strong drive to learn and expand knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or another related field.
•Professional Engineer (PE) license or the willingness and ability to obtain it.
•Experience in energy, chemical, and/or power design engineering.
•Experience with CAESAR II or similar pipe stress analysis software.
Physical demands
•Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems.
•Position will include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.
Work environment
•Employee will work in various environments including offices, industrial facilities, and construction sites.
•On field assignments, noise levels will be moderate to high. Jobs sites may encompass heavy vehicles, industrial equipment and tools, communication systems, and bells, whistles, and alarms.
