Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer II with a focus on mechanical engineering experience in the pipeline & terminals business!


Role Summary

The Mechanical Engineer role supports development and maintenance of engineering standards and specifications as well as working to continuously improve the technical content of our bidding, business case justification, estimating, and construction packages.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include

Daily Operations. Respond to project requests for technical support including code interpretation, specification of engineered materials and equipment, in construction engineering responses, attending project process hazard review sessions, membership on company technical committees

Design Projects. Participate in the mechanical design process by developing the process for PFD and P&ID, developing specifications for purchased products and materials.

Design Review. Conducting thorough and timely design review of engineering packages produced by third party engineering firms. Providing leadership, direction, and work instructions to designers and external design contractors relating to the design packages being prepared for company projects.

Collection and Review of Engineering Documents. Assisting the project manager in the collection and review of as-built drawings and other archive data required in the permanent records of the company.

Process Improvements. Contributing significantly to the definition of design processes, procedures, and work instructions and the continuous improvement thereof.

Engineering Standards. Contribute to developing and improving engineering standards, recommended practices, standard designs, and specifications that form a part of the design library of the company.


And other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.

5+ years progressive experience as an operations company in the engineering design capacity related to pipeline and terminals business, chemicals industry or other process industry. Experience must include field experience in execution of construction projects or with an engineering firm serving these industries.

Candidates with experience with an engineering firm must demonstrate working knowledge of regulatory and operational aspects of project design and execution.

Up to 25% travel across all Buckeye assets.


Certificates & Licenses

Professional Engineer license with the capability of expanding licensure to other states by reciprocity.


Other Skills, Attributes And Abilities

Mastery of communication with other engineering professionals, suppliers, and contractors using the English language

Skillful in Microsoft Office suite of software, AutoCAD, engineering and design software packages


Essential Functions

This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.

This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.


Physical & Safety Requirements

The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.

The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.
