Tech I/II - $20-$23 depending on experience
Tech III - $24-$27 depending on experience
Mechanical Technician I/II - Hands-On Assembly Experience: Pay range $20-$23
Production Technicians I/II at Kratos safely assemble products that are manufactured based on designs and standards for the power product lines. These product lines appeal to a broad range of industries spanning electrical, mechanical, and renewable energy systems. The production technicians responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assembling controls, switchboards, panels, and future product lines, performing various tests on products, writing up reports, using various equipment, and general support to the engineering team. Our technicians work under the Production Lead and Production Foreman to bring these designs to life on the shop floor using state of the art technologies.
2+ years’ experience in electro-mechanical assembly (Level 1 assembler experience is often assumed).
•Assembly of small to medium-sized mechanical parts and electrical components using hand tools (screwdrivers, torque wrenches, tweezers, soldering irons, crimpers).
•Familiarity with reading and interpreting:
•Assembly instructions (work orders, travelers)
•Manual dexterity for handling delicate electrical components or miniature mechanical parts.
•Assembly of mechanical sub assemblies' involving:
•Pneumatics (basic tubing and valves)
•Torquing fasteners to specified tolerances.
•Performing alignments and mechanical fit checks.
•Use of basic test equipment, including:
•Multimeters (measuring voltage, continuity, resistance)
•Hi-pot testers (basic training level)
•Power supplies (setting safe voltages)
•Basic troubleshooting of assemblies for wiring mistakes or mechanical misalignments.
•Quality and Process Control
•Adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assembly instructions.
•Performing in-process inspections (e.g., checking correct parts, placements, and orientations).
•Completing build documentation (sign-off travelers, checklists).
•Familiarity with electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection practices:
•Handling sensitive components on ESD-safe benches.
•Quality and Process Control
•Adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assembly instructions.
•Performing in-process inspections (e.g., checking correct parts, placements, and orientations).
Mechanical Technician III - Hands-On Assembly Experience: Pay range $24 - $27
Production Technician III at Kratos safely assembles products that are manufactured based on designs and standards for the power product lines. These product lines appeal to a broad range of industries spanning electrical, mechanical, and renewable energy systems. The production technicians responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assembling controls, switchboards, panels, and future product lines, performing various tests on products, training, writing up reports, QA/QC inspections, using various equipment, and provide support to the engineering, quality, and supply chain team. Our technicians work under the Production Lead and Production Foreman to bring these designs to life on the shop floor using state of the art technologies.
6 months to 1+ years of hands-on assembly experience (can be in electronics, mechanical, or general manufacturing).
•Comfortable using basic hand tools:
•Able to perform simple Basic Electrical Handling
•Basic ability to handle:
•Performing simple tasks like:
•Wire stripping and crimping
•Assembling basic electrical harnesses under supervision
•Plugging and unplugging connectors without damage. Blueprint and Diagram Reading (Intro Level)
•Basic mechanical drawings
•Can follow step-by-step written assembly instructions with minimal supervision.
•Understand basic quality standards:
•"Good vs bad" mechanical fit
•Spotting obvious mistakes (missing screws, loose wires)
•Willingness to report problems to supervisors or quality inspectors.
Workplace Skills
• Adheres to safety procedures in an assembly environment:
• Wearing PPE (gloves, eye protection) Working with low-voltage systems safely (<48V DC typically)
• Basic understanding of workplace organization (5S, clean benches, tool management).
Computer And Documentation Skills
Basic ability to:
• Log completed steps in paperwork or basic computer systems (data entry)
• Scanning parts into an inventory system (training provided).
Additionally
•Establish a Safety-First team environment with all team associates, including proper use of PPE.
•Demonstrate a culture of 5S awareness, team wide, to maintain organization and cleanliness.
•Perform controls and mechanical assemblies, including electrical chassis and cable construction.
•Read, interpret, and translate schematics and models into functional electrical and mechanical products.
•Use hand tools, power tools and hands on application to construct standard and custom products.
•Work with production team to collaborate on new ways to improve existing (or create new) lean processes.
•Communicate ideas with leadership to improve the lean manufacturability of products through lessons learned.
•Have a desire and willingness to learn and adopt our manufacturing methods for assembly and production.
•Follow stringent quality standards set by Kratos, the Customer and UL Certification Requirements.
•Strive to maintain the project delivery schedule set forth by Management, Production Foreman, and Lead.
•Learn all 5S standards, lean manufacturing principles, job safety practices and policies including but not limited to personal protective equipment, emergency procedures, Kaizen, one-piece flow, etc.
•Everyone will be required to use their personal phone to utilize Teams, Paylocity and JOBOSS a stipend will be added to bi-weekly pay.
•OT will be Required when needed. Management will notify in a timely manner.
•All employees need to be at their station and ready to work when breaks are over, 1st break, lunch, and 2nd break.
•Ready to work by 7am, not arrive at 7am. (if you arrive before 7am, it’s okay to clock in up to 5 minutes prior).
•Raises are determined annually and will be communicated at time of review.
•Raises will be determined within an annual assessment based on the performance of that work year
•Exemplify and uphold yourself to Kratos Code Orange expectations
•There will be a 90-day probation period
•Be proficient with power tools
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•Some employers may accept candidates enrolled in or recently graduated from a vocational/technical training program.
•3+ years of UL 508A Control Panel or UL 1008 Transfer Switch Equipment or UL 1558 Metal Clad Switchgear or UL 891 Switchboards or UL 67 Panelboards manufacturing experience.
•HS Diploma or GED required.
•Military MOS related to wiring technician a plus.
•Associated trade school a plus.
•Proven ability to effectively adapt to change.
•Must have a great attitude!
Preferred Skills
•Basic soldering experience (can be trained on the job)
•Familiarity with torque tools or calibrated assembly tools
•Any coursework or training in: Electronics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology
•Ability to clearly communicate person to person.
•Established desire to learn, collaborate, listen, and discuss with peer’s methods and principles.
•Demonstrated Professional Adaptability.
