Job Title: Shop Mechanic

Pay Rate: $37,440-$52,000 per year, depending on experience

Job Description:
The Shop Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing construction equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and conducting repairs in a shop environment. The Shop Mechanic plays a crucial role in minimizing downtime and supporting the overall efficiency of construction operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in various types of construction equipment, including heavy machinery and vehicles.
•Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
•Repair or replace faulty parts and components, using hand and power tools as needed.
•Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory of parts and supplies.
•Collaborate with operators and project managers to identify equipment issues and prioritize repairs.
•Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations while working in the shop and on job sites.
•Assist in the training of junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
•Other duties as assigned by Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Education and Certification
•High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
•Previous experience as a mechanic or in a related field (typically 2+ years).
•Familiarity with a variety of vehicles and equipment types.
Skills
•Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues.
•Strong knowledge of automotive systems (engine, transmission, brakes, etc.).
•Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment (OBD-II scanners, hand tools, etc.).
•Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Personal Attributes

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Strong communication skills.
Additional Qualifications
•Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in a shop environment.
•Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime as needed.
•Technical diploma or certification in automotive or mechanical technology.
•ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent.
