Typical Functions
•Primary duty is to keep equipment operating by trouble shooting issues and breakdowns. Properly and safely resolves mechanical or electrical discrepancies, per the Mechanic Shop’s schedule of operation.
•Maintains a clean and safe environment for fellow employees, as well as appropriate organization in the provided floor space and adheres to storage design principles.
•Ensures that records are maintained on every piece of equipment operated by Smith Industries LLC, to include maintenance and repairs.
•Maintains operating instruction with positivity and willingness to learn from department managers and fellow employees.
•Ability to handle tools required and heavy equipment, to include operation of heavy equipment.
•Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.
•Inspects vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
•Maintains inventory and all supplies necessary to maintain workflow and general maintenance, reporting any necessary orders needing to be made to the Transportation Manager.
•Provides accurate estimates (cost, time, and effort) for a repair or maintenance job and report findings to supervisor.
•Be able to maintain and update systems put into place to electronically track and sustain all PM schedules, unscheduled maintenance, and all necessary equipment information as required by Smith Industries LLC.
•Provides feedback to Transportation Shop Manager for works in progress, including prioritizing works in progress to prevent interruptions in production.
•Adheres to all safety and training protocols and procedures at all times.
•Assists trucking department with pre- and post-trip inspections.
•Other duties as assigned.

•Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
•Certificates directly pertaining to skills are a preference, but not required.
•Experience with electronic program for work orders, inventory and parts.
•Have working knowledge of tools necessary to perform any mechanical and electrical repairs.
