Summary:
DMC is currently looking for Mechanics (Heavy Duty) to join our team on a contract basis, based at Cadomin Mine site in Alberta. This will be a fly in/fly out (FIFO) position on a 14 days on/14 days off schedule. The worker will be required to work both day and night shifts, that will be 12 hours in duration.
Reporting to the Supervisor, the Mechanic (Heavy Duty) is responsible for skilled work that involves the maintenance/repair of equipment and machinery. The scope will involve the development of an underground mine with multiple heading sizes, the largest being 13.7m x 7.6m. The Mechanic (Heavy Duty) will be responsible for the execution of equipment repairs, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting the equipment on site such as jumbo drills, bolter, LHDs, haul trucks, concrete pump, trans mixers, forklifts, telehandlers and utility equipment.
Responsibilities:
•Perform quality maintenance work as directed by their supervisor.
•Equipment repairs will include weld repairs on (but not limited to) 50te haul trucks, 12-yard LHDs, 2 boom jumbos, a bolter, utility trucks and a scaler (excavator).
•Complete maintenance work as directed by supervisor. This can include working on repairs of equipment, assisting with mechanical scope and offering support as needed.
•Have a complete personal basic trade tool inventory of required quality for the trade. This includes being able to monitor and track consignment stock and notify the supervisor when additional items are required. Requisitions may be placed by the individual, and an understanding of the procurement process will be expected (following training).
•Be able to read procedures and prints as part of the fabrication process. This will include shop drawings, fabrication drawings and sketches.
•Must follow standard safety operating procedures. This includes taking accountability for works completed, ensuring that it is in line with requirements and best practices (for example not modifying items on OEM equipment without Engineering approval).
•Follow company policies and procedures.
•Understand the operation of diagnostic equipment and measuring tools, reading and interpreting results.
•Inspect, diagnose equipment and troubleshoot components as required (air/hydraulic systems are an asset).
•Be able to read procedures and prints as part of the diagnostic process.
•Be able to read electrical and hydraulic prints.
•Record all defective items on equipment and supply parts listing as per DMC work order procedures.
•Must follow standard safety operating procedures.
•The ability to work with OEM representatives.
•Usage of tooling associated with the scope, including (but not limited to), welding equipment, drills, grinders,
•The worker may be around explosives and may be subject to security checks.
•Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC. Medical and drug testing will form part of the pre-employment process.
•Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.
•Other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
•Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certificate/License (421A) is preferred.
•Ontario Basic Underground Common Core - 770010 Program (U0000-U0001-U0002-U0012) is an asset.
•3 to 5 years of underground experience.
•Experience working on Sandvik jumbos and bolters, Sandvik haul trucks, Sandvik LHDs, and Toyota utility vehicles is an asset.
•Must be reliable and self-motivated with a good work ethic.
•Must be experienced and comfortable working at heights.
•Welding & fabrication experience is an asset.
