Position Description

This posting will fill two Mechanic roles. One will be a Mechanic-Spillway and one will be a Mechanic-Marine.

Mechanic-Spillway

- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Santee Cooper Spillway and Hydro Unit #7, to include conducting Spilling Operations directed by ECC. 24/7 operation of the Spillway Hydro entailing daily maintenance and record keeping. Assisting E&I Techs trouble shooting operation systems when not in service. Conducting switching when operating the hydro unit and adjoining switch yard. Maintaining the West Dam Bolster pumps performing PMs regularly and maintenance when needed. Operating various pieces of Spillway equipment to include Class A CDL fleets, mobile cranes, standard and variable reach forklifts, tractors, lawn mowers, boats from John boats to twin engine work boats, sand blasters, and commercial painting equipment. Mechanic must have competent welding and fitting skills. Must be able to work out-of-town on a continuous basis and be on 24-hour on-call status.

Mechanic-Marine

- Responsible for operation of all types of light and heavy equipment, land based and marine. Equipment used for the operation, maintenance and construction on Santee Cooper's FERC Project #199. Specifically, the Navigation System, including Locks and Spillway and the dams & dikes. Other projects include operational areas such as Generating Stations, Transmission Systems, Property, etc. Equipment includes operation of hydraulic and lattice boom cranes ranging from 28 ton-300 ton barge mounted cranes. Individual is knowledgeable of pile driving applications and performs advance rigging, deck hand skills, welding, metal fabrication, and competent in carpentry. Credentials to include unrestricted Class A CDL, NCCCO Crane License with LBC,TLL,TSS and STC certifications, Non-Commercial Pesticide License with Categories 3,5,and 6. US Coast Guard OUPV Captains License with Commercial Towing Endorsement. This position must be available to work out of town on a continuous basis and be on 24 hours on-call status.

Mechanic A-Spillway

- High School Diploma/GED +5 years experience required.

- Crane Operator license is required within 1 year of hire.

- Unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License is required within 6 months of hire.

- Must be proficient with operations of Heavy Civil and Marine equipment.

- Welding and Rigging Certifications required within 6 months of hire.

Compensation Information

$32.65 - $40.80 (min.-mid.)

Mechanic B-Spillway - High School Diploma/GED +2 years experience required.

- Unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License is required within 6 months of hire.

- Must have competent knowledge of safe rigging practices and be proficient with operations of Light Civil and Marine equipment.

- Welding and Rigging Certifications required within 6 months of hire.

Compensation Information

$23.85 - $29.80 (min.-mid.)

Mechanic C-Spillway - High School Diploma/GED +1 year experience required.

- Unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License is required within 6 months of hire.

- Must have competent knowledge of safe rigging practices and be proficient with operations of Light Civil and Marine equipment.

- Welding and Rigging Certifications required within 6 months of hire.

Compensation Information

$19.45 - $24.30 (min.-mid.)

Mechanic A-Marine - High School Diploma/GED +5 years experience required.

- Crane Operator license is required within 1 year of hire.

- Unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License is required within 6 months of hire.

- Must be proficient with operations of Heavy Civil and Marine equipment.

- Welding and Rigging Certifications required within 6 months of hire.

Compensation Information

$23.85 - $29.80 (min.-mid.)

Mechanic C-Marine - High School Diploma/GED +1 year experience required.

- Unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License is required within 6 months of hire.

- Must be familiar with operations of light equipment and smaller boats.

- Rigging certification required within 1 year of hire.
