The Mechanic 1 is an entry-level technician and is responsible for utilizing mechanical training to contribute to fleet maintenance operations to keep Gravity’s equipment on the rental “ready line.” The person in this role is responsible for becoming familiar with product knowledge and standards of quality within the branch and learns standard operating procedures at the local (branch), region and national level to grow their career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Works with ethics, honesty, values, and integrity. Provides a position of professionalism to others.
•Follows a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Gravity-owned fleet.
•Operates and tests equipment to ensure it passes Gravity quality and efficiency standards.
•Performs routine maintenance and repairs, such as oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services on small fleet equipment and trucks under direct supervision.
•Diagnoses rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics.
•Performs major repairs and assorted parts replacements to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments under direct supervision.
•Enters work orders via fleet management system.
•Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.
•Completes all monthly safety and equipment-related trainings.
•Any other duty, responsibility or task as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience
Required
•High School or GED equivalent, some college preferred.
•Must be at least 21 years of age and able to maintain insurability with Company insurance.
•Some knowledge in electrical and hydraulic systems and willingness to learn to read schematics.
•Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
•Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment.
•Computer skills to support entering information into fleet management system and open/close work orders.
•Ability to lift 50+ pounds required.
•Ability to read, write, and speak English to the extent they understand verbal and written instructions in English.
