Material Handler/Backup Supervisor

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, self-driven Material Handler/backup supervisor to join our 3rd shift team. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced position that requires attention to detail, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move, load, and unload steel products

- Handle and position heavy steel materials (up to 75 lbs) with precision and care

- Accurately read tape measures and perform basic math for measurement and inventory tasks

- Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures to ensure a secure work environment

- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area

- Support daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, staging, and stocking

- Step into a supervisory role as needed to provide direction, support team productivity, and ensure shift goals are met

- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership

- Adapt to changing workloads and prioritize tasks as needed

Qualifications:

- 1–2 years of experience in a warehouse, industrial, or manufacturing environment

- Skilled in operating forklifts and overhead cranes (certification a plus)

- Ability to read and interpret tape measures and perform accurate measurements

- Solid math skills and strong attention to detail

- Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, stand, and move throughout an entire shift

- Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance

- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to take initiative

- Must live within a commutable distance to Kent, Ohio

Preferred:

- Previous work in a steel service center or similar environment

- Familiarity with handling steel products

- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols, especially for heavy materials

- Experience using inventory management systems

Schedule:

- 3rd Shift (9:00 pm to 5:30 am)

- Overtime available based on business needs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
