Summary: The Marketing Manager develops, coordinates, and evaluates marketing, communications, and public-relations initiatives that support the Cooperative’s electric, natural-gas, and fiber-internet services. This role provides direction for all marketing channels while ensuring brand consistency and positive community engagement. The Marketing Manager supervises a Marketing Coordinator, works closely with other departments, and manages external vendors to achieve organizational objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties as may be assigned.)
•Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to support the cooperative’s goals.
•Oversee and manage the cooperative’s social media presence, website, and digital marketing efforts.
•Plan and execute community events, public relations initiatives, and sponsorship activities.
•Create and manage content for publications, including Country Lines Magazine, Spotlight, newsletters, and other communication pieces.
•Provide creative input and oversee the design of business cards, board presentations, and promotional materials.
•Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities for growth.
•Develop strategies to promote fiber internet sales and enhance customer engagement.
•Collaborate with departments to support strategic planning and ensure marketing aligns with organizational priorities.
•Serve as the primary contact for media relations and coordinate press releases.
•Monitor and report on campaign performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
•Manage the marketing budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
•Support crisis communication efforts and maintain a proactive PR strategy.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the Marketing Coordinator and oversees work performed by contractors, interns, or external agencies as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, public relations, or a similar role
•Proficiency with common marketing tools (e.g., website CMS, social-media management platforms, Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent design software, basic audio/video editing applications).
•Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; ability to translate technical information into member-friendly language.
•Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess a current State of Michigan Driver's License.
Physical Demands
While performing the essential Duties and Responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, get in and out of vehicles and climb up and down stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
