Scientific Drilling is looking for an Manufacturing Software engineer

to join our

Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA

. The ideal will work with our manufacturing engineering team and focused on writing and maintaining device testing software within embedded systems in a manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software that directly impacts production efficiency and product quality.

Our

Manufacturing Software engineer

will work in our Manufactuing team and is expected to perform the essential duties listed below. Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States.

Key Job Functions

Develop clear, concise, and maintainable code, designs, and user interfaces that support business needs and end-user functionality.
Create unit and integration tests to validate expected behaviors and support continuous integration and regression testing.
Learn and develop a working knowledge of hardware/software interactions, with a focus on embedded systems used in manufacturing environments.
Assist in monitoring development progress and help identify and mitigate project or technical issues.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with other engineers, team leads, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
Suggest and support improvements to software tools, development processes, and overall product functionality.
Participate in analyzing system requirements and planning installation of new or upgraded hardware/software solutions.
Evaluate system requirements such as reporting formats and security needs to inform hardware configuration choices.
Document code changes, procedures, and development outcomes in a clear and organized manner.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong understanding of programming fundamentals (e.g., C++, Python, or similar) as well as familiarity with relational databases.
Familiarity with version control systems.
Basic knowledge of embedded systems or real-time environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.


Preferred (but Not Required)

Internship or project experience related to embedded systems, hardware interfacing, or manufacturing technologies.
Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting Device Under Test (DUT) and identifying root causes of failures.

Work Environment, Physical Job Requirements And PPE

Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computers and related equipment, calculators, copiers, fax machines, telephone and vehicles. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, FRC coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
