JOB DESCRIPTION

The Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational

management of the natural gas cooperative. This includes overseeing daily operations,

financial performance, staff supervision, member relations, and infrastructure maintenance.

The Manager will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote the

cooperative’s mission and values

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Governance

- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans.

- Provide regular reports and updates to the Board on operations, finances, and

projects.

- Ensure regulatory compliance with provincial regulations and cooperative policies.

Operations Management

- Oversee the maintenance and expansion of gas distribution infrastructure.

- Lead day-to day operations of the cooperative.

- Manage emergency response protocols and ensure safety standards are met.

- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Financial Oversight

- Prepare and manage annual budgets.

- Monitor financial performance and ensure fiscal responsibility.

- Oversee billing, collections, and financial reporting.

Human Resources

- Supervise and support staff, including hiring, training, and performance

management.

- Foster a positive and safe work environment.

Financial Management – Proficiency in budgeting, reporting, and fiscal oversight.

Analytical Thinking – Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Conflict Management – Skilled in resolving disputes and maintaining harmony.

Interpersonal Skills – Ability to build strong relationships with staff, members, and

stakeholders.

People Management & Staff Development – Experience in mentoring and growing

team capabilities.

Industry Knowledge – Familiarity with natural gas operations and legal requirements

within Alberta’s rural utility sector is highly beneficial.

EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary education in business, engineering, or a related field would be

considered an asset.

Minimum 3 years of experience in utility or infrastructure management.

Familiarity with Alberta’s Rural Gas Program and related regulations.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the service area.
