Job Overview
Provide leadership and oversight to professional, technical, and trades staff involved in project modification, site maintenance, and the delivery of engineering and project management services. This includes providing leadership for design, scheduling, budgeting, quality, materials, and contracts within a multi-unit nuclear generating facility, as well as product expertise related to the deployment of Small Modular Reactors and other new nuclear technologies in both domestic and international markets. The role also supports strategic planning, training, and the optimization of project execution.
Key Accountabilities
•Supervise professional and technical staff, PWU and construction trades, as assigned. Plans organize, schedule, and coordinate work of staff. Assign tasks and provide instructions as required. Check work of assigned staff to ensure good quality, accuracy, and productivity. Develop work methods. Make effective recommendations to the Supervisor regarding staff issues in specified areas such as training, transfer, promotion, selection and discipline. Conduct performance appraisal interviews and submit written appraisals to Supervisor for review/ approval. Administer collective agreements and jurisdictional precedents for the purpose of assigning work to appropriate trade and/or industrial bargaining group.
•Be responsible for leading a team that provides technical and consultative services, problem solving, technical advice and guidance, technical specifications, product expertise and related services primarily to Clients and supporting organizations such as Laurentis Energy Partners management, regulatory agencies, partnering organizations, and auxiliary divisions, including New Nuclear.
•Provide advice and administer, diagnose and solve problems associated with Department facilities and specific project elements. Define project objectives, scope, estimates, schedules, work plans and all resource requirements, (including equipment and staffing). Integrate the efforts of all persons contributing to a project including the customer, planning, finance, engineering, estimating, drafting, installation, quality control, radiation protection, safety, security, materials management, cost and schedule control, commissioning and documentation. Coordinate and implement project technical work/solutions, and initiate the acquisition of appropriate approvals, as required in support of the operation and maintenance of the facilities.
•Develop work plans, consistent with time horizon of role to achieve assigned tasks. Utilizing these work plans, establish context, subordinate tasks, controls and limits. Set cost control procedures and objectives. Assign tasks to subordinates, ensuring the commensurate level of complexity, discussing the limits and methods to be used, specifying the task parameters and setting overall context for the assignment. Formulate specific work assignments, and include subordinate input and discussion on requirements, issues and the like.
•Act as a coach and facilitator to create and sustain a non-threatening, supportive, team environment, actively working with staff to empower them to attain optimal work performance with a high level of personal responsibility and self-management. Hold regular meetings with all immediate subordinates to discuss various subjects, including, safety, work plans and scope, problems and suggestions for improvement. Identify training requirements required to perform tasks, ensuring the training is relevant and evaluation measures meaningful.
•Make effective recommendations on staff selection and induction, taking appropriate and timely actions to deal with unsatisfactory performance, consistent with approved policies and procedures. Provide a work environment that is conducive to employee well-being, diversity, and ensuring harassment-free environment.
•Establish clear and effective working relationships with subordinates once removed, ensuring the integration of all outputs. Communicate the overall organization goals and the direction, which guides the operation of the work programs/function.
•Evaluate the potential capability of each team member. Act as a mentor, meeting with each individual on a regular basis to discuss development plans and provide appropriate advice.
•Develop strategies and work processes for nuclear facilities. Analyze technical results and adjust/implement work programs as necessary, including the identification of resources required, optimizing performance.
•Provide assurance that activities are implemented at minimum cost within budgetary limitations. Ensure management systems are in place to meet all due diligence requirements and are effectively managed on a continuing basis.
•Continually assess and maintain governing documents, including policies, standards and procedures, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
•Other Duties as Required.
Qualifications
We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have:
•Minimum 8-10 years of Project Management Experience
•Experience in managing projects of increasing complexity is considered a necessary requirement; project complexity would normally be defined by multiple-contract, multiple stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
•Proficient and strongly familiar with Project Management tools and methodologies. Nuclear Engineering process knowledge, management, and experience will be considered an asset.
•Proven ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
•Proficient Analytical skills
•Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
