Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Manager, Plant Operations will be involved in all aspects of plant operations while ensuring compliance with all people relations, safety, environmental, policies and regulations. The Manager, Plant Operations is responsible for providing leadership and overall administration of plant operations, and ensures production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and meet the highest quality and plant reliability standards.
The successful candidate will work at the Halkirk, AB, Canada facility with some travel required to the Calgary, AB, Canada office. It is a requirement that the candidate either currently reside in close proximity to site, or be willing to relocate (support available).
What Else You Get To Do:
•Assures the safe and efficient operation of the plant
•Develops and manages the planning and scheduling of work, budgeting and cost control, safety and environmental management of the operations team
•Works with safety resources to ensure that work is completed safely, and that health and safety issues are anticipated and mitigated
•Accountable for the success of regular operational duties, including processing facility operations, repair and maintenance, quality control and testing, wheel loader operations, and highway dry bulk carrier loadout operations
•Contributes to and executes plant business plan and meets or exceeds economic and operational objectives
•Leads development of and implements organizational plans regarding new programs for plant operations, repair and maintenance
•Identifies, evaluates and develops strategies for plant, procedure and program improvements
•Monitors and delivers regular reporting on plant operations
•Responsible for reducing environmental contraventions and for developing the Proactive Environmental Performance list
•Maintains regular communications with raw material supplier regarding supply quality, rate, and processes
•Interfaces with site supervisor and crew to ensure operation and maintenance plans, including plant shutdowns and operational issues meet the business objectives
•Facilitates practical resolution of technical, non-technical and daily management issues
•Provides strong leadership and develop employees to optimize their performance, including goal-setting, facilitating development plans, reviewing performance, coaching, mentoring and providing feedback
What You Bring:
•Minimum of 10 years’ relevant industry experience
•Highly interested in asphalt plant experience
•Experience with mechanical equipment is required: rotating equipment, gas dryers, crushers, hoppers, conveyors, repair of wear components, silos, lubrication schedules
•Experience with electrical equipment and controls is an asset
•Experience with heavy equipment and loadout operations is an asset
•Experience in cement, construction aggregates, ready-mix concrete, oil sands and/or asphalt plant operations preferred
