This is a senior management position responsible for Nuclear Training.
This position is responsible for the management and control of training and qualification for all personnel (except those in Nuclear Security) who support Susquehanna. This includes oversight of the administration of six operator training programs accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training: Non-Licensed Operator, Reactor Operator, Senior Reactor Operator, Licensed Operator Re-qualification, Shift Manager, and Shift Technical Advisor. This position is responsible for ensuring the control room simulator is certified and capable to license new reactor and senior reactor operators.
Primary Responsibilities
•Providing formal training programs for all employees in Talen Energy Susquehanna and other Talen Energy employees that support Talen Energy Susquehanna, LLC.
•Ensuring the operations of highly qualified testing programs for use in pre-employment and progression line testing.
•Coordinating activities of the group through planning, budgeting and controlling of expenses.
•Providing training support services necessary to effectively administer training programs and improve the cost-efficient operations of Susquehanna training.
•Administering established policies and programs including those pertaining to safety counseling, productivity, goal setting and training.
•As a member of the station leadership team, support key station functions including outage support, duty team support and/or on-call membership of the nuclear emergency response organization (NERO). This requires the ability to respond to the site and activate an emergency facility within 60 minutes while on call.
•Maintaining a cooperative working relationship with the other training groups in Talen Energy.
•Maintaining INPO Accreditation for all accredited programs.
•Maintaining Operations Training Programs that meet Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) federal rules and laws.
•Maintaining a working relationship with other nuclear power plants.
•Maintaining an industry/educational partnership with local colleges and universities.
•Maintaining a working relationship with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.
•Maintaining qualifications for assigned Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.
FSAR Qualifications
•Education: Shall hold a recognized baccalaureate degree.
•Experience: Shall have eight years in responsible positions, of which three years shall be nuclear power plant experience. A maximum of four years of the remaining five years of experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic training.
Other Basic Qualification
•SRO License (this SSES requirement may be waived via the NDAP‑QA‑0001 evaluation process if possessed by a subordinate)
Other Basic Qualifications
•Previously or currently holds two or more of the following positions: Operations Training Manager, M&T Training Manager, Training Lead, Ops Manager, Assistant Operations Manager, Shift Manager, Unit Supervisor, Radiation Protection/Plant Chemistry Supervisors, Maintenance Manager, Work Management or Manager, Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
•Previously or currently holds a management position in Site Support, NOS/Quality Assurance, Emergency Preparedness, Regulatory Affairs/Performance Improvement or INPO Loanee.
