What You’ll Do:

Lead the Mobile Equipment Team: Provide the vision and direction for the mobile equipment managers, supervisors, and mechanics.

Champion Safety.In accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards, take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation.

Evaluate Equipment. Advise plant managers on the proper selection of equipment and its operation for a given application. Participate in reviewing and evaluating new and used equipment at the time of purchase. Evaluate and make recommendations on the advantages of lease costs vs. purchasing mobile equipment. Work with vendors on specifications for new mobile equipment for the area.

Equipment Maintenance. Identify problem areas with equipment and work closely with plant management to schedule preventive maintenance, major component replacement, repairs, or rebuilds. Track, trend, and report on relevant maintenance and equipment key performance indicators.

Collaborate. Work closely with operations management on capital replacements and maintaining costs within budgets.

Develop Training. Assist in the development of training programs for operators and mechanics on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Maintain Relationships. Establish and maintain good relations with OEMs and other mobile equipment vendors and service providers. Develop and manage these contacts to provide the division with the best and most cost-efficient services. Gather and disseminate information and updates from OEMs.

Champion Continuous Improvement. Promote “Best Practices and Standards” for mobile equipment.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Skills You’ll Need:

Education. Must have a BS/BA degree in Business Administration, Engineering, an advanced technical degree, or equivalent training and work experience.

Experience. Must have at least 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in directing mobile equipment preventative maintenance programs.

Maintenance Knowledge. Must be familiar with reliability-centered maintenance principles.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and vendors.
