Job Title: Manager – Internal Comm & Engagement
The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $145,260 to $181,575.
This role drives AVANGRID’s Forward 2025 strategic goals by crafting dynamic employee engagement and change communication strategies that reinforce company values and culture. It enhances communication effectiveness through innovative digital channels and storytelling tailored to diverse audiences, fosters leadership alignment, and embeds a localized communications approach by partnering across business units. The role also supports the employee experience through opinion surveys, influencer networks, and a maturing communication business partner model, while collaborating globally and locally to unify messaging and amplify employer branding through community involvement and sustainability initiatives. It reports to the Vice President of Strategic Affairs and Internal Communications.
+ Decision-Making: Implements communication strategies and tactics through a high-level of influence across a wide span of geography, multiple business areas and diverse micro-cultures. + Responsible for developing and leveraging effective relationships across a global network of communication teams and a matrix organization that includes a global internal communication center of excellence. + Aligns with senior leadership and global teams to support effective decision-making.
+ Responsible for internal communications and employee engagement planning and execution activities across AVANGRID’s 6,500 employees who are based in multiple locations and encompass both a union and non-union workforce. + Advises management on communication strategies, guiding decisions on engagement, transformation, and business priorities. + In order to increase the relevance and effectiveness of our communication and engagement efforts, the successful candidate will bring extensive use of digital channels and out-of-the-box thinking to this position. This is about using the right digital tools and/or technique to find, listen to and mobilize community around an issue. + In times of crisis and storm response, the successful candidate will be an indispensable partner with demonstrated ability to think on one’s feet, retain composure, and provide strategic counsel. As a trusted partner, during business as usual, he/she will be brought in early for advice on how to position and synchronize initiatives that will have an impact on the employee experience. + Leads internal communications with strategic planning and insight generation, equipping teams and leaders with tools like audience analysis, executive messaging, and tailored engagement materials. + Builds relationships with leaders in the field to establish insights into the ‘local’ communication environments and works with these teams to structure communications solutions appropriate to local resources, challenges and capabilities. Additionally, accommodates and customizes for micro-cultural differences. + Plans and implements innovative and planned application of range of virtual and live internal events.
+ Manages direct reports (as applicable) as well as vendors/external services as required. + Partners across business units and with external vendors to deliver tailored communications and support strategic initiatives.
+ Leads the design and execution of AVANGRID’s annual communication strategy, aligning with Forward 2025 growth priorities. Manages cross-functional initiatives that embed employee engagement and enablement principles, ensuring cohesive messaging and effective stakeholder coordination to support strategic transformation. + Creates a step change in delivery and embedding communication and engagement activities, through innovative use of digital channels; Optimizes and increases penetration of "field communications". + Increases employee participation in employee opinion survey and increase key employee engagement metrics. + Collaborates on creation and maintenance of a dynamic communication calendar. + Masters digital channels to extend reach, frequency, employee interaction with employer brand, and overall program effectiveness. + Executes innovative events that demonstrate creative flair on time/on budget. + Demonstrates the ability to flex between front-line mobilizer and influencer of people versus behind-the-scenes orchestrator. + Ability to conceive events, including drives the development and execution. + Demonstrates project management skills and is highly organized. + Ability to effectively articulate, persuades and employs a "growth mindset".
