SUMMARY

The Construction Standards Engineering Manager is a pivotal leadership role integral to the strategic planning, execution, and successful completion of solar construction projects. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Construction Standards Engineering, this position drives the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of advanced processes to ensure all project activities align with the company’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and sustainability. The Manager will oversee a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including strategic project coordination, optimized material procurement, regulatory compliance, and rigorous quality assurance, while providing mentorship and operational support to site-based Construction Engineers.

This role is focused on maximizing operational efficiency, leveraging data-driven insights, and fostering innovation to minimize redundancies and enhance project outcomes. The Manager will champion cross-functional collaboration, lead transformative initiatives, and ensure seamless integration of cutting-edge tools and methodologies across all project phases.

This is an office-based role with standard working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project demands. The position involves up to 25% travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Process Optimization: Lead comprehensive audits of Project Teams to ensure adherence to Hanwha Qcells (HQC) policies, utilizing advanced analytics to identify and implement process improvements.

Innovative Process Development: Spearhead process mapping initiatives to design and deploy optimized workflows, enhancing efficiency and scalability across solar PV projects.

Advanced Tool Creation: Oversee the development of customized, project-specific tools and digital artifacts to streamline execution, monitoring, and closeout phases, integrating automation and real-time data tracking where applicable.

Policy and Standards Leadership: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to author and refine policies and procedures, ensuring standardized, high-quality delivery of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.

System Implementation and Training: Partner with Training and Business Process departments to lead the rollout of new systems and technologies, delivering hands-on training and support to site teams for seamless adoption.

Performance Coaching and Metrics: Engage with site teams to provide strategic guidance on production and productivity metrics, leveraging data visualization tools to track and ensure projects remain on-budget and on-schedule.

Forecast Oversight: Conduct detailed reviews of monthly project forecasts, ensuring accuracy, sufficiency, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Mentorship and Operational Support: Provide high-level guidance and operational support to site-based Construction Engineers, empowering them to:

Oversee and drive the execution of project deliverables, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, and elevated quality standards.

Lead sophisticated procurement strategies, coordinating engineering solutions with cross-functional project personnel to optimize resource allocation.

Secure and maintain all necessary permits, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and project specifications.

Foster a culture of collaboration, enhancing communication and alignment among internal and external stakeholders.

Oversee the creation, organization, and management of project reports and technical documentation, implementing robust document control systems.

Provide operational leadership to superintendents, optimizing timekeeping, resource allocation, and quality management processes.

Demonstrate exemplary leadership in safety, conducting advanced job hazard analyses and championing a proactive safety culture across all project sites.

Ensure compliance with environmental policies through oversight of field staff training, certifications, and sustainable practices.

Drive the professional development of Field Engineers by designing tailored training programs, certifications, and career progression plans.

Build and maintain strategic relationships with third-party stakeholders, consistently exceeding client expectations through exceptional communication and professionalism.

Leadership in Innovation: Actively explore and integrate emerging technologies, such as AI-driven project management tools or renewable energy innovations, to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.

Regular Attendance: Maintain consistent attendance in accordance with the company’s attendance policy, ensuring availability for supervisory responsibilities and strategic oversight.

Special Projects: Undertake additional duties and high-impact special projects as assigned by senior management, contributing to the company’s long-term strategic goals.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or another related field, and 3 years construction experience, or;

Minimum of 5 years work experience in related field.

Must be competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Must have experience with construction scheduling, CPM logic, and best practices.

Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Method, and other forecasting best practices.

Demonstrated ability in supporting projects: development, planning, installation, and execution.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.


SALARY RANGE FOR POSITION

The anticipated starting pay range of this position, which is to be located in Ankeny, IA is $ 130,000 - $ 150,000 base salary per year.

The above-listed salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. The salary range shared in the job description is for the listed position and only pertains to the candidate if they work in Irvine, CA. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
