The Maintenance Technician will be Licensed 309 Electrician and will be responsible for the ongoing operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrification systems, including EV charging stations, battery storage solutions, solar PV systems, and electrical distribution systems. This role will ensure that all equipment operates efficiently and safely by performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective actions. This role will be part of the team that maintains high uptime and reliability of infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and providing technical expertise during O&M activities.
Responsibilities:
•Conduct site visits to diagnose and resolve technical, safety, and maintenance-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with safety standards.
•Perform regular preventative and corrective maintenance on EV charging infrastructure, battery storage systems, solar PV system and electrical distribution equipment to ensure optimal performance.
•Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in the field, diagnosing problems
•Monitor system performance through SCADA and other monitoring systems, identifying trends, reporting anomalies, and recommending corrective actions.
•Conduct system diagnostics and performance optimization to ensure the systems are operating at maximum efficiency.
•Ensure compliance with safety regulations and site specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and oversee the on-site execution of maintenance activities.
•Lead commissioning activities for new systems, including testing, inspections, and quality assurance to ensure successful integration into the existing infrastructure.
•Collaborate closely with OEMs to support troubleshooting, coordinate warranty replacements, and carry out scheduled maintenance activities in alignment with manufacturer specifications.
•Facilitate training sessions for clients, EV charging station operators, and junior maintenance staff, ensuring they are thoroughly equipped with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for safe, compliant, and efficient system operation.
•Provide input into the development of maintenance plans, checklists, and operational procedures for ongoing system performance.
•Accurately document all maintenance activities, work orders, and repair actions, ensuring thorough tracking and traceability with available software platforms.
•Lead electrical troubleshooting and repairs for systems failures, working closely with O&M technicians, OEMS, clients, engineering consultants
•Ensure that all safety protocols, such as lockout/tagout (LOTO), are adhered to when performing maintenance tasks.
•Conduct detailed inspections of electrical components and ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and operating within the manufacturer’s specifications.
•Support the inventory management of spare parts and tools, ensuring that required materials are available for repairs and maintenance.
Key skills and Qualifications:
•309A Electrical License, with proven experience in electrical systems maintenance.
•5+ years of working as a maintenance electrician, with hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and related infrastructure.
•Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel to various job sites as required.
•Working in Electrification infrastructure environment, Battery Energy Storage system, solar PV system, EV charging systems and battery storage solutions is strong asset
•Experience working with maintenance management or asset management software.
•Customer focused with demanding environment for quick response
•Experienced with SCADA and EMS systems, and how they interact with electrical infrastructure.
•Strong understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices, including ESA and OSHA regulations.
•Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
•Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve electrical faults.
•Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating across different disciplines including engineers, technicians, and external vendors.
