The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all shop, office, and building maintenance activities to ensure day-to-day operations are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget. This role manages maintenance personnel, equipment, and resources while ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Minimum Starting Salary: $70,000 to $85,000 - depending on education and experience
- Supervise and lead maintenance employees in performing regular inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues.
- Assign and oversee repair schedules, evaluate cost estimates, and monitor progress.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily progress reports and maintenance logs.
- Manage equipment and parts inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
- Create, maintain, and approve purchase orders.
- Oversee expense reports and company credit card usage.
- Coordinate work with outside contractors and vendors as needed.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment meet operational and safety standards.
- Conduct team meetings focused on safety, maintenance planning, and company policies.
- Provide clear daily assignments and expectations, following up with feedback and coaching to ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.
- Plan, prioritize, and make decisions to support maintenance operations.
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance personnel, assigning specific work tasks and monitoring results.
- Anticipate material needs, ensure availability, and reorder supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with production shop supervisors to support operational needs.
- Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure employees are properly trained on equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed to a high standard and in compliance with relevant codes, guidelines, and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong technical knowledge across electromechanical, hydraulic, and building systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop team members.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Four or more years off maintenance experience in electromechanical, hydraulic circuits, building systems, or related machinery used in steel fabrication or a similar industry.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
