Liberty LLC is a natural gas-fired generating station located in Towanda, PA. This position involves the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of power plant and steam distribution equipment including control/block/pressure relief valves and actuators, fuel gas regulators, pumps, fans, buildings. This position requires the ability to work with complex mechanical components as well as the ability and desire to reference Manufacturers Operational and Maintenance manuals on a routine basis. The selected candidate should hold a degree in a Mechanical field or have equivalent job experience.
Major accountabilities that are specific to this position:
- Install, repair, maintain control valves and actuators and/or function as a Point of Contact for a 3rd party vendor contracted to make repairs on this equipment.
- Install, repair, maintain fuel gas regulators and/or function as a Point of Contact for a 3rd party vendor contracted to make repairs on this equipment.
- Install, repair, maintain pumps and/or function as a Point of Contact for a 3rd party vendor contracted to make repairs on this equipment.
- Assist with equipment predictive maintenance programs such as vibration analysis monitoring, oil analysis programs and valve leak detection surveys.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance such as equipment oil changes and greasing. This may require referencing Manufacturers Operational and Maintenance manuals for proper lubrication types, intervals, and amounts.
- Interpret technical documentation: data sheets, vendor manuals, troubleshooting flowcharts, etc.
- Maintain and control spare parts inventory.
- Research, source and order parts, and materials as required.
- Assist in budget planning and control.
- Creation and modification of procedures and associated documents.
- Creation of job scopes and other bidding documents.
- Procuring quotes and creating Purchase Requisitions.
- Provide detailed feedback to work orders in the CMMS system and close work orders as they are completed.
- Assist with weekly planning and scheduling of Maintenance work orders.
- Respond to plant emergencies as they arise.
- Assist with Plant housekeeping to ensure a safe work environment.
- Operates plant equipment as required (trucks, forklift, aerial lifts, hoists).
- Participates in and contributes to plant safety meetings and programs.
- Stop work and take corrective action if an unsafe act is witnessed.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
- Be “on call”, for emergency repairs, one out of every three weeks on a three-week rotating schedule.
- Required - high school diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school, military or technical training school; preferred - an Associate's Degree in a Mechanical field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Mechanical field.
- Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.
- Conceptual understanding of various types of pumps, valves, turbines, compressors and other power plant equipment.
- Ability to comprehend and implement technical instruction provided by equipment manuals.
- Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment, including pumps, valves, replaces bearings, etc.
- Ability to work in outdoor elements.
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and to work efficiently in a stressful environment is required.

- Ability to set priorities and manage time amidst multiple tasks.

- Working in varied outdoor environments such as all weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on the full range of outdoor work surfaces.
- The frequent use of protective equipment (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, etc.) may be required. Work with hazardous materials may also be required.
- Working in proximity to high voltages and current with proper training and equipment, operating heavy equipment and rolling stock and entering confined spaces or hazardous environments may be required while often being exposed to equipment and machinery noises.
- Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, operation of large valves and other tasks requiring up to 100 lbs. of pulling or turning force, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
- Eye and hand coordination are required to operate switches, pushbuttons, and other controls.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
- All candidates will participate in the post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
