Position Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation in a fast-paced open-die forging environment. Equipment includes hydraulic forging presses (up to 4,500 tons), forge furnaces, heat treat furnaces, saws, pneumatic systems, forklifts, manipulators, dust collectors, and general facility support systems.
The mechanic performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs to minimize downtime and support production goals related to safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery. This role also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reliability.

· Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) tasks such as greasing, lubricating, cleaning, and inspecting equipment
· Assist with basic mechanical repairs on hydraulic forging presses, manipulators, saws, and furnace systems
· Make basic hydraulic repairs, including replacing hoses, fittings, O-rings, seals, and other common components
· Support inspection and maintenance of forklifts, manipulators, and other mobile equipment
· Assist in troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems under the direction of senior mechanics
· Perform general facility maintenance tasks, including but not limited to replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, unclogging toilets, and minor plumbing or carpentry work
· Help manage hazardous waste by properly labeling, sorting, storing, and disposing of materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
· Participate in general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility
· Identify and report worn parts, leaks, unusual noises, or abnormal equipment conditions to supervisors
· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using maintenance logs or CMMS
· Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and decommissions as needed
· Ensure tools, equipment, and maintenance areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
· Follow all plant safety rules, including the use of proper PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures
· Participate in safety meetings, required training, and continuous improvement initiatives
While performing normal duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in this work environment requires hearing protection. The job may require additional hours beyond a 40-hour workweek.
