We are seeking a hands-on General Maintenance Technician to keep our facility and equipment running smoothly in support of our machining operations.
Job Summary:
The Machine Shop General Maintenance Technician is responsible for the chip disposal, upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facilities in a machine shop environment. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical issues, ensuring operational efficiency, and supporting production to minimize downtime and emergencies.
- Chip disposal and recycling.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, CNC machines, grinders, drills, and other tools to ensure smooth operations and longevity.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; troubleshoot breakdowns using schematics, blueprints, and diagnostic tools.
- Lubricate machinery; clean components, replace worn parts (e.g., belts, bearings, filters), and calibrate equipment for optimal performance.
- Document maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections in logs or CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) software; report major issues to supervisors.
- Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and compliance with OSHA regulations; identify and mitigate hazards in the shop environment.
- Collaborate with production staff to minimize disruptions, coordinate with vendors for parts procurement, and assist in machine installations or setups.
- Operate hand and power tools, precision measurement devices, and testing equipment; perform minor electronic repairs on controls and sensors.
- Maintain clean, organized workspace and inventory of supplies; may include groundskeeping or minor building repairs around the shop.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-3 years of general maintenance or mechanical repair experience
- Familiarity with CNC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and basic electronics
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks safely.
- Experience working in a CNC machine shop environment.
- Familiarity with Haas or other CNC machine tools.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
- Basic understanding of OSHA safety requirements.
