Summary
The Machine Floater plays a crucial role in supporting the production process by ensuring smooth and efficient machine operations. This position is responsible for loading coils onto the machine turnstile, managing scrap materials, assisting with material loading, and supporting machine changeovers. The Machine Floater works closely with the machine operator to maintain an organized, safe, and productive work environment.
· Coil Loading: Responsible for the safe and accurate loading of coils onto the machine turnstile to ensure efficient machine operation using an overhead crane or forklift.
· Scrap Management: In cooperation with the machine operator, ensures that all scrap generated by the machine is properly handled and placed in the correct hoppers to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
· Material Loading Assistance: Assist the machine operator by loading raw materials onto the machine for processing, contributing to the smooth flow of production.
· Tooling Changeover Support: Provide support during line changeovers, including assisting with the setup and handling of tooling arms, ensuring minimal downtime and quick transitions between production runs.
· Collaboration with Operator: Work in close partnership with the machine operator to ensure materials are processed in an orderly and efficient manner, adhering to production schedules and quality standards.
· Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and functions according to safety standards.
· Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the operator or supervisor to support the overall production process.
· Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
· Ability to operate and assist with machinery, including loading coils and materials.
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Basic knowledge of machine setup and changeover procedures is a plus.
· Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
· Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
· Physical stamina to lift and move materials as needed.
· Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.
· Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physical tasks as needed.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Ability to stand for long periods, operate heavy machinery, and perform manual tasks in a factory setting.
· Properly wear PPE and handle machinery safely.
