Description of Position
The Class A CDL Truck Driver will deliver a variety of equipment, tools, and supplies to and from customer worksites for Palmetto Sitework Services.
Organizational Relationships
The Truck Driver will report to the Shop Coordinator and work closely with the Shop Assistant and Mechanic. Normal inside contacts will include all employees of the Palmetto Sitework Services office, shop, and field. Outside contacts will include existing clients, customers, and other related industry contacts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
•Safely and independently drive a Class A truck hauling equipment on lowboy trailer in a variety of conditions, including urban, suburban, rural settings; Ensure safety, quality control, and environmental protection programs are followed throughout all travel and other duties.
•Conduct thorough and frequent inspections of truck and hauling equipment; Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
•Demonstrate ability to drive safely in tight settings, such as construction zones.
•Transport and deliver a variety of equipment such as large bulldozers, excavators; light to heavy construction equipment; agriculture and lawn equipment. Secure cargo and properly arrange it within the vehicle for hauling.
•Communicate and coordinate with Shop Coordinator, Logistics Manager, and Director of Operations and other team members to ensure proper and timely delivery of equipment, tools, and/or supplies. Complete any related paperwork and maintain accurate documentation as required.
Requirements of the Position
•Education and Certification – High school diploma or equivalent; Valid Driver’s License with a Class A CDL License; Safe driver’s record.
•Recommended Work Experiences – Training and experience with similar commercial equipment is preferred; 3 years of experience driving a lowboy trailer and have the ability to troubleshoot and make minor repairs to equipment and vehicle at job sites.
•Physical Demands – Ability to bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift 50 pounds or more; working inside/outside when required by the job; miscellaneous or similar duties may be required from day-to-day.
•Working Conditions – Considerable local and non-local travel may be required; Work with a group and/or team; Frequent conflict situations may be present; Work after normal business hours; Potential hazardous work; Frequent exposure to extreme outside weather conditions and high levels of noise.
