Loop Test / Board Operator

Summary:

The Commissioning Loop/Functional Test Board Operator is to perform all commissioning activities to ensure that the I&C loops meet specified requirements. Excellent communication skills and team-oriented personality required to interface with construction and operations teams. A strong knowledge of DCS/ SIS and PLC system. A working knowledge of LNG processing facilities is required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

DeltaV and DeltaV-SIS board operation competent,

• Access operator displays

• Manipulate various control module operating parameters to operate the process

• Respond to process alarms

• Monitor process performance

• View real-time and historical trend data

• System Overview

• Accessing DeltaV Operate Window, Menus Displays and Directories

• Discrete and Analog Control Module Operation

• Accessing Alarm Display/ Alarm Handling

• Motor Control Module Operation

• Regulatory/Cascade Control Module Operation

• Accessing Real-time/Historical Trend Data

Check installation against installation drawings, to identify deficiencies,

Communicate with Board Operator during loop and functional check,

Use a Tablet to document Pre-Loop, Loop, or Function test using Hexagon Intergraph

Package PLC HMI operation through KVM

Operator and maintenance level access operations for package HMI in various suppliers, SIEMENS, ROCKWELL, ETC

Document findings using a Tablet, of successful testing and outlining deficiency found,

Record “punch list” items using a Tablet and Hexagon,

Identify hazards during pre-commissioning and Commissioning Risk Assessment consider high pressure, high temperature, chemicals, flammable gas, electrical power, etc. use appropriate safety protections,

Follow WMS and JSA’s.

Technical Knowledge / Skills / Competencies

Has a thorough understanding of Safety requirements related to commissioning and start-up activities,

Technical Knowledge as applied to Loop/Function Testing:

proficiency practice and evaluation of performance to standards.

Workstation startup, failure scenarios and malfunctions.

Desktop, and tablet computers,

Current instrumentation

Signals, Transmission, and Networks: 4-20mA, HART, Serial (RS232, RS422, & RS485), Modbus (TCP & serial), and Ethernet,

NFPA (NEC), 70, National Electrical Code,

NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.

Database completions system, such as Hexagon using desktop computer and tables

Base Documentation Knowledge:

Understand the information within the following documents and how this information applies to loop and function checking:

Instrument datasheet,

Instrument installation drawings,

Instrument location layout drawings,

Loop drawings,

Wiring diagrams,

One-line diagrams,

Cause and Effect diagrams,

Piping & Instrument Drawings (P&IDs),

“B-Check Sheets” in Hexagon and/or PDF format.

Qualifications / Certifications

Mandatory:

Five (5) years with the one of the following certifications:

National Center for Construction Education & Research – Instrumentation Level 4

International Society of Automation – Certified Control System Technician Level 1

Or other technical programs may be accepted after review.

Eight (8) years of verifiable employment experience, technical and/or certification a plus,

Preferred:

Experience within the LNG industry or cryogenic process industry,

Experience working on mega scale project.
