About The Position
The Logistics Manager is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the development, execution, and continuous improvement of global logistics functions, including inbound and outbound transportation, trade compliance, and third-party logistics (3PL) relationships. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods across the supply chain network. The Logistics Manager works cross-functionally with Procurement, Manufacturing, Warehousing, and Customer Service teams to ensure that service levels are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining a strong focus on cost containment and operational excellence.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
•Strategic Leadership - Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive global logistics strategy covering inbound, outbound, and 3PL operations. Align the logistics roadmap with organizational goals, supply chain objectives, and customer requirements.
•Global Freight Management - Source, negotiate, and manage service contracts with domestic and international transportation providers, including truckload, LTL, air freight, ocean carriers, and parcel services. Ensure that providers meet contractual obligations and performance metrics.
•Trade Compliance - Ensure full compliance with all applicable international trade regulations, including customs documentation, duty payments, HTS classification, and Incoterms. Serve as the internal expert and liaison for all matters related to import/export compliance.
•Performance Monitoring - Track, analyze, and report on key logistics performance indicators (KPIs), such as freight spend, delivery performance, damage claims, and transit times. Use data to drive decisions and recommend actionable improvements.
•Cost Optimization and Process Improvement - Lead initiatives aimed at reducing freight costs, minimizing lead times, and streamlining processes. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.
•Freight Audit and Payment - Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of freight audits and payment processing. Work closely with the finance team to resolve discrepancies and ensure proper cost allocations.
•Project Support - Provide logistics expertise for cross-functional initiatives such as new product introductions, system integrations, site expansions, and customer onboarding. Lead logistics planning and execution for major capital or supply chain projects.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
•Education - Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
•Experience - Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in logistics or transportation management within a global supply chain environment, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, or consumer goods industries.
•Technical Skills - Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong working knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs documentation, and logistics cost modeling.
