Logistics Assistant Manager

Overview

Manages and plans for logistics policies, objectives, and initiatives. Creates procedures for logistics management to optimize product workflow and minimize cost. Has responsibilities for vendor selection and negotiation, distribution, transportation, and inventory control.

Duties

- Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

- Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates, and expense control in order to plan department operations.

- Prepares operational schedules and coordinates shipping activities to ensure shipping goals are met in due time.

- Reviews delivery reports and resolves operational problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

- Reviews & resolves non-conformance problems as they are identified.

- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

- Resolves worker conflicts and/or counsels with employees.

- Compiles, stores, and retrieves department data.

- Responsible for proper functioning of activities in the warehouse.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year-college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Proven experience in logistics or supply chain roles is preferred; warehouse experience is a plus.

- Familiarity with logistics concepts such as transportation planning and freight management

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to utilize data for decision-making and process improvement.

- Proficiency in inventory control practices and materials management techniques.

- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
