Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for locating, identifying, and marking company transmission and distribution underground electric facilities exterior to company electric substations and service stations timely and accurately. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. This is a temporary position for a limited period of time. This position does not guarantee employment for any particular period, and the Company may change the terms and conditions of your employment from time to time subject to the terms and conditions of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES•Complete the entire Extent of a Dig (Julie) Ticket accurately and in a timely manner
•Accurately mark electric utilities, utilizing paint and flags, that meets or exceeds the Extent of the JULIE Locate request
•When required, reach out to Locate requester to clarify the Extent of the Locate request, as described on the JULIE Locate Request
•Adhere to Illinois Underground Utilities Facilities Damage Prevention Act and/or any other standard the company references due to business need, and Company Safety Rules, or any other reasonable guidance and instruction pertaining to Company and the Underground Distribution and Transmission system.
•Make observations along the routes of designated Underground Distribution and Transmission lines escalate concerns appropriately and in a timely manner
•Promptly report any condition that may constitute a hazard to employees or the public
•Provide field updates and any facility discrepancies for Mapping
•Use and utilize computer and computer-based tools
•Participate in Joint Meets with other locators and excavator, when required for scheduled work
•Perform On-the-Job training of less experienced locators
•Perform peer review of high impact locates
•Provide a Premier Customer Experience
•Other duties as assigned
•Rate of Pay per CBA $27.54 per hour
Job Scope
JOB SCOPE
•This is a temporary position for a limited period of time. This position does not guarantee employment for any particular period, and the Company may change the terms and conditions of your employment from time to time subject to the terms and conditions of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
•This position also requires participation in the local union and payment of union dues.
•Per the Locator Agreement dated 9.12.24, Locators will be eligible to apply and bid for other open Company positions after ten (10) months of performing locate services; although the Company reserves the right to limit the number of Locators that can accept other positions and/or delay the release of any successful candidate from their Locator position based on the Company's assessment that such release may negatively impact the Locate Pilot. Eligible Locators must meet all qualifications, requirements, assessments and applicable testing and training requirements for hire into any open Company positions.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Minimum 18 months locating experience
•Education equivalent to High School Diploma
•Successful completion of Company assessment process
•Ability to read maps, drawings, CAD representations and similar graphic representations
•Ability to create field sketches and finished drawings by hand or via PC
•Ability to operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark underground utilities within set accuracy limits
•Obtain and maintain valid Driver's License
•Demonstration of mechanical aptitude
•Proficient in basic computer skills and use of various applications
•Ability to work independently
•Possess good problems solving skills
•Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 15 pounds
•Must have the ability to move safely over uneven terrain
•Must have the ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
•Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
•Must be available to work weekends, nights, and overtime. Travel as needed
