SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Performs effective and efficient right-of-way clearing in a safe manner and according to the system's requirements as a vital part of the maintenance program to insure uninterrupted electric service to the membership.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
•Reports to the Line Clearance Crew Foreman/Line Clearance Sky Trim Foreman
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Operates and maintains Right-of-Way equipment for ground and aerial trimming and uses pesticides to control weeds and woody plants for right-of-way control.
•Clears Right-of-Way to REA Specifications.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Performs right-of-way clearing and trimming.
•Performs daily truck inspections.
•Operates the Right-Of-Way mowing equipment and bucket trimming equipment.
•Learn and abide by all safety rules and regulations.
•Repairs, maintains and inspects right-of-way equipment.
•Serves after-hours calls when needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•High School education, with prior experience as a equipment operator.
•Must have a Class "A" NC Commercial Driver's License with a good driving record.
•Knows tree trimming specifications per REA Specifications
•Ability to perform outdoors, in adverse weather conditions for extended periods.
•Ability to think clearly and must possess sound judgment abilities.
•Ability to work for extended periods in confined areas.
•Ability to use tools in rough terrain.
•Ability to write in a clear legible manner.
•Ability to perform maintenance on Right-Of-Way equipment.
•Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed.
•Ability to lift objects of various sizes and shapes weighing more than 25 pounds.
•Ability to walk long distances over rough terrain for distances exceeding two miles.
ON THE JOB TRAINING
Provides employees with an overall exposure to equipment used and REA Specifications so the employee can move to a Tree Trimmer I or other positions of increasing responsibility.
Trains when Jones-Onslow EMC provides schools.
Documentation for promotion to Line Clearance Technician I will be based upon Performance Reviews and Merit Evaluations and a recommendation from the Foreman.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal working conditions outside of office building. Regular working hours are from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, except company observed holidays.
