We are hiring a Leadership Development Consultant for a full-time temporary position (up to 18 months) working out of Edmonton, AB. This opportunity is open to both internal and external candidates. As a Leadership Development Consultant , you will play a critical part in designing and delivering high-impact leadership programs, including workshops, bootcamps, and advanced development programs for all levels of leadership at EPCOR. You’ll be at the heart of it all – leading the design and implementation of organization-wide leadership initiatives, empowering leaders, and managing development programs across all leadership levels.
You’ll coach leaders, facilitate meaningful discussions, and guide action planning around key HR programs. Your ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams will be essential in designing and delivering learning experiences that shape EPCOR’s culture and strengthen its leadership pipeline.
What you’d be responsible for
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning & Development, you will have the following key accountabilities:
Leadership & Organizational Development
•Designing and delivering leadership development programs using engaging, learner-centered methods (virtual and in-person).
•Facilitating coaching conversations, team interventions, and leadership workshops that drive behaviour change and performance.
•Providing consulting and coaching in areas such as succession planning, conflict resolution, team development, and organizational design.
•Supporting leaders in applying EPCOR’s leadership competencies and identifying talent for growth.
•Applying organizational development tools (e.g., Gallup’s CliftonStrengths, DiSC, MBTI, leadership assessments) to support team and leader effectiveness.
Program Design & Facilitation
•Leading the planning and facilitation of leadership bootcamps, advanced leadership programs, and professional development events.
•Collaborating with senior leaders and stakeholders to clarify complex needs and co-create impactful learning strategies.
•Promoting an inclusive, learner-centered internal brand that reflects EPCOR’s values and commitment to continuous improvement.
•Leveraging instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies to create high-impact learning experiences.
•Utilizing learning platforms (e.g., LMS systems) to support program delivery and tracking.
Process & Program Improvement
•Driving improvements to leadership development processes, tools, and resources.
•Aligning programs with EPCOR’s values and strategic goals, defined competencies, and the needs of leaders.
•Tracking and evaluating program effectiveness using relevant metrics and feedback.
Please note:This role is focused exclusively on leadership development, employee learning, and organizational effectiveness. It does NOT involve recruitment, candidate sourcing, or talent acquisition responsibilities.
What’s required to be successful
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience and behaviours:
•A degree in Leadership, Adult Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
•5+ years of experience in leadership development, organizational development, instructional design and facilitation of leadership training
•Proven expertise in designing and delivering learner-centered programs using adult learning principles.
•Strong facilitation skills, executive presence, with the ability to confidently engage and coach senior leaders.
•Demonstrated ability to apply organizational development tools (e.g., Gallup’s CliftonStrengths, DiSC, MBTI, leadership assessments) to support team and leader effectiveness.
•Proficiency with learning platforms (e.g., LMS) and digital learning tools.
•Skilled in strategic collaboration and stakeholder engagement, particularly with senior leaders and executives.
•Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
•High integrity and discretion when handling confidential or executive-level information.
•Strong analytical, systems-thinking, and time-management skills.
The following will be considered an asset:
•ICF-accredited Organizational Coaching or CPHR Certifications.
•Experience integrating DEI principles into leadership development programs.
•Background in regulated or operations-driven organizations.
