Job Description
The Lead Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting products manufactured by Benoit to ensure that they meet all established criteria, and that any nonconforming product is identified. The Lead Quality Control Specialist receives authority from and reports to the Quality Supervisor/Quality Director.
Specific duties of the Lead Quality Control Specialist include but are not limited to:
• Ensure that the company's products conform to all applicable requirements.
• Develop measurement methods, procedures, and equipment.
• Establish "best practices" to ensure uniformity between inspectors.
• Be able to train Thread Inspectors on proper gage techniques for inspecting parts for product acceptance.
• Audit Manufacturing process and perform daily quality checks including gauge standardization, calibrations, gauge-set-ups, and verification of all workorder related documents.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Supervisor/Quality Director and may serve as “designee” in their absence.
• Inspect and calibrate drift mandrels as necessary to ensure that they are within the API/Benoit specified tolerances.
• Perform and document a "First Article Inspection" before full production begins.
• Record information on Daily Inspection Log sheets and sign‐off on Work Orders and Router forms to verify those items which have passed inspection.
• Verify that CNC Operators/Thread Inspectors have applied their identification numbers on products they have machined, and that traceability is in place.
• Remove from service any inspection equipment found to be defective or out of calibration.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting/minor repairs on measurement equipment.
• Verify that all measuring equipment utilized for product acceptance displays a current calibration sticker.
• Assist machine operators with lathe set-ups, when possible, to avoid production delays.
• Coordinate with Quality Supervisor/Quality Director, Machine Shop Supervisors, CNC Operators, and shop personnel to inspect products as required.
• Ensure that any inspection equipment not in use is stored in its proper location.
• Monitor the handling of tubing and accessories, to ensure compliance with applicable procedures.
• Contribute to quality by interpreting and enforcing company quality procedures as needed and by communicating overall awareness of good quality.
• Conduct regular quality process control audits.
• Manage daily NCR disposition and database for QMS.
