Job Overview:
Lead Packaging Operator is responsible for providing direction and troubleshooting in the packaging group over a packaging line. This is in addition to knowledge and skills of the highest level within the areas where direction is being given.
Responsibilities:
Understands internal customer needs and meets expectations.
Knows the daily schedule and performance targets and meets expectations.
Maintains the highest level of packaging skills.
Identifies personal development needs and seeks training to fill gaps.
Understands packaging standards and how to modify processes to meet standards. Ensures standards are being met.
Provides guidance to others in the packaging work group including troubleshooting problems.
Assist or replace operators when necessary; maintains an efficient process.
Notify Supervisor or Lead Person of disciplinary or performance issues.
Provide input to Supervisor or Lead Person recommendations for fostering morale.
Ensures complete compliance with ISO, FAMIQS, HAACP and other registrations within plant if necessary.
Communicates with the Packaging and Processing teammates.
Responsible for accomplishing equipment inspections as necessary and coordinating work orders and callouts of maintenance personnel to meet acceptable plant performance as defined by Plant Manager.
Ensures areas are clean and free of clutter and that all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and precautions are followed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.
Skills & Abilities:
Must possess and utilize a basic level of computer literacy in all Microsoft products plus CMMS and QMS program.
Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.
Must have good interpersonal skills to provide leadership including good verbal and written communication skills.
Understand the concept of ownership of the process.
Must be able to analyze data and direct team members to meet quality and production objectives.
Must understand all safety requirements to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and precautions.
Must possess a willingness to work on rotating shifts and assist operators to maintain an efficient process.
Must possess basic mechanical aptitude.
Must be able to visually monitor electronic equipment and control panels, interpret the data and take appropriate actions.
Must be able to read and comprehend product specifications.
Must have functional understanding of process controls.
Must understand all safety requirements and other communications.
Must be able to enter and retrieve data from computer databases.
Must be willing to make decisions within the scope of his responsibilities and be accountable for those decisions.

Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently—duration of shift if necessary.
Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently
Must be able to climb ladders up to 110 feet.
Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone.
