Lead Materials Engineer - Non-Destructive Testing

Job Description Summary

The successful candidate(s) will be a Lead Materials Engineer for nondestructive testing and evaluation technologies for Wind Turbine products

Roles and Responsibilities

- Maintain material and special process specifications for nondestructive test methods and procedures.

- Work with suppliers to interpret specifications/standards and optimize production methods/techniques.

- Review supplier and service provider NDT procedures and techniques to ensure compliance with codes, standards and specifications.

- Service and RCA projects support - NDT process development for field inspection and validation.

- Interface with services teams and 3rd parties to develop field procedures and review results.

- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and standard work.

- Identify technology development opportunities for growth and investment.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in relevant Science or Engineering field (Materials, Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical) or equivalent experience.

- Minimum 5 years experience with non-destructive test methods and procedures covering a variety of metallic materials.

- Ability and willingness to travel (international and domestic) as needed (up to 35%)

Desired Characteristics

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Hands on experience with NDT methods for volumetric (UT) and surface (MPI, PT) inspection.

- Proficiency in common NDT methods for metals.

- Good understanding of other acoustic and electromagnetic test methods.

- Familiarity with casting, forging, welding and joining material processes.

- Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards for NDT.

- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team contributing to positive culture and overall team results.
