Job Summary/Purpose
The GIS Practice Lead will champion our effort to modernize utility industry business processes centered around the ArcGIS Utility Network to join our forward-thinking Operational Technology team. This role is ideal for a passionate GIS professional who thrives at the intersection of business operations and geospatial technology. You will lead the implementation and ongoing development of Delta's ArcGIS Utility Network platform, with a sharp focus on building practical, business-aligned GIS applications that support our natural gas utility services.
- This position could be hired at a Lead or Manager level role.
Accountabilities And Essential Functions
Lead GIS Platform Development- Lead design, implement, and manage the ArcGIS Utility Network for Delta’s gas infrastructure to enhance asset visibility, integrity management, and field workflows.
- Develop requirements for configurable and custom applications using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder, and Field Maps that support real-time operations, mobile workforces, and enterprise-wide situational awareness.
- Oversee design of critical system integrations leveraging Enterprise GIS with key operational systems such as SCADA, AMI, and ETRM to enhance data flow and decision support.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and field services to understand business requirements and translate them into effective GIS solutions.
- Lead process automation efforts and develop smart mapping tools, dashboards, and location-based analytics that support compliance, safety, and performance metrics.
- Serve as a key liaison between GIS and the business to ensure geospatial technologies are driving tangible value and efficiency.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to introduce leading-edge technologies to enhance business operations.
- Guide GIS data modeling, schema design, and Utility Network rules to ensure system integrity and scalability.
- Promote and enforce GIS data standards, governance, and best practices across the organization.
- Mentor and support GIS analysts and technicians; provide documentation, training, and support for field and office users.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience working with Esri GIS technologies, with at least 2 years directly supporting Utility Network implementations.
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, geodatabase design, and Utility Network modeling.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with proven experience delivering GIS solutions aligned to business needs.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred Of The Position
- Experience with natural gas utilities or pipeline infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Python, Arcade, SQL, or other scripting tools for GIS automation.
- Familiarity with integrations to SCADA, AMI, or ETRM platforms.
- Experience working with mobile GIS platforms and field data workflows.
Any Certificates, Licenses, Etc. Preferred For The Position
- GISP (GIS Professional) Certification
- Esri ArcGIS Utility Network Certificates
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Able to exert up to 50 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.
