We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Fabricator to oversee and execute complex fabrication projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert in TIG and MIG welding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and project management. This role demands innovation, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of shop processes, tooling, and materials to deliver high-quality, precision-built components.
- Fabrication & Welding:
- Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on various metals (aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, etc.).
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to fabricate parts to spec.
- Ensure all welds and fabrications meet quality and tolerance standards.
- Machining:
- Operate and program CNC lathes and CNC mills for custom part production.
- Utilize CAM software to create or modify tool paths and part programs.
- Perform precision machining operations with minimal supervision.
- Sheet Metal Fabrication:
- Set up and operate CNC press brakes, shears, rollers, and other sheet metal equipment.
- Work with various gauges of sheet metal for complex and accurate assemblies.
- Tooling & Shop Equipment:
- Maintain, set up, and optimize usage of shop tools and fixtures.
- Develop or modify jigs, fixtures, and custom tooling as needed for one-off or production runs.
- Innovation & Creativity:
- Apply creative problem-solving to unique and complex fabrication challenges.
- Innovate new processes, techniques, or tooling methods to improve efficiency and quality.
- Proactively suggest design or fabrication improvements to achieve the best final result.· 10+ years of experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
· Proficient in TIG and MIG welding across a variety of metals.
· Advanced experience with CNC lathe and mill operations, including programming.
· Skilled in sheet metal work, including CNC press brake operation.
· Strong knowledge of shop tools, materials, and fabrication techniques.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and schematics.
· Excellent project management and time management skills.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360, ONE CNC, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Background in prototyping, motorsports, aerospace, or architectural metalwork.
- Knowledge of finishing techniques: grinding, polishing, coating prep, etc.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
