Primary Function:

The Lead Carpenter is responsible for the successful execution of residential remodel projects. This includes ensuring safety, maintaining order, managing trade partners, upholding quality standards, and fostering a collaborative environment aligned with our company values. While still utilizing your carpentry skills, your focus will include site leadership, coordination, and talent development. You are also responsible for timely and accurate documentation.


Major Responsibilities:

On-Site Leadership and Coordination:
Take ownership of the job site, establishing a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
Proactively plan and coordinate daily activities, anticipating challenges and implementing solutions.
Manage and schedule trade partners to ensure seamless workflow and adherence to the project schedule.
Facilitate clear and consistent communication between trade partners, the Project Manager, and the client.
Apply Lean Construction principles to optimize workflow and minimize waste.
Quality and Craftsmanship:
Ensure all work performed by our team and trade partners meets our high standards of craftsmanship and aligns with the project plans and specifications.
Conduct regular quality checks and proactively address any deficiencies, Zero punch list.
Educate and mentor team members and trade partners on best practices and our quality expectations.
Strive for zero callbacks related to workmanship.
Safety Management:
Champion a safety-first culture on the job site, leading by example and enforcing all safety protocols.
Conduct regular safety checks, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions immediately.
Ensure all personnel on site utilize appropriate PPE and safety equipment.
Participate in safety training and promote a proactive approach to preventing accidents.
Client Relationship Management:
Serve as a primary on-site point of contact for the client, fostering a friendly and personable relationship built on honesty and integrity.
Provide regular and clear updates to the client on project progress, addressing their questions and concerns professionally.
Proactively identify and communicate any potential issues to the Project Developer.
Always uphold a professional demeanor, representing our company positively.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate daily logs, including progress updates, site conditions, and any relevant observations, in BuilderTrend.
Upload progress photos that clearly document the work completed.
Ensure all hours worked are logged accurately with the correct cost codes.
Submit receipts promptly with accurate job and cost code information.
Talent Development and Team Collaboration:
Embrace a coachable mindset, actively seeking feedback and opportunities for professional growth.
Mentor and develop less experienced carpenters and helpers, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
Foster a positive and collaborative team player environment on the job site.
Share your knowledge and expertise to elevate the skills of the entire team.


Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a lead carpenter.
Consistently professional in appearance, communication, and demeanor.
Strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
Complete NARI CLC course and certification within 6 months.
Clean DMV record and valid Driver’s license.
Must provide own hand tools and common power tools.
Experience working in collaborative team environments


Knowledge:

Comprehensive understanding of building materials and methods used in all aspects of residential construction.
Thorough knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
Solid understanding of the roles and responsibilities of various trades.
Working knowledge of relevant building codes.
Comprehensive understanding of safety standards and procedures.


Skills:

Proficient and safe use of hand tools, key power tools, and equipment.
Advanced ability to read and interpret plans, shop drawings, renderings, scopes of work, and specifications.
Expertise in layout and installation of various structural and finish carpentry elements.
Proven ability to manage and coordinate trade partners on a job site.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to establish efficient workflows.
Ability to proactively identify and solve problems.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour


Expected hours: 40 per week
